Course Description

This course revisits and refreshes the full FAW syllabus, ensuring first aiders remain competent, confident, and up to date with the latest guidance and best practice. You must hold a valid First Aid at Work (3-day) certificate that has not yet expired.

  • First Aid Equipment

  • Managing an Emergency Situation

  • Diagnostic Skills

  • Muscle, bone and joint injuries

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Asthma

  • Choking

  • Resuscitation (CPR)

  • AED (Defibrillator operation)

  • Allergic reactions

  • Burns and scalds

  • Hyperthermia/Hypothermia

  • Epilepsy

  • Poisoning

  • Concussion/Compression

  • Unresponsive casualties

  • Minor and severe bleeding

  • Head Injuries

  • Shock

  • Seizures

  • Spinal injuries

  • Stroke

  • Eye injuries

  • Fainting

  • Head injuries

  • Poisoning

Please note: Assessment is completed through a multiple-choice question papers and practical demonstrations.

 

Who is this course for?

Based on the risk assessment, employers should identify and train individuals to act as first aiders in the workplace, ensuring there are enough trained personnel to cover shifts and potential absences. 

Please note: The qualification is valid for a period of three years. To renew it, learners must complete the FAW Re-Qual course. It is advisable that learners also attend annual refresher courses during this three-year period.
