Emergency Paediatric First Aid at Work

1 Day Course - £395 up to 12 learners

 Course Description

This Paediatric First Aid including Forestry School First Aid, two -day course qualifies delegates with an in-depth knowledge of first aid in compliance with HSE guidance. Delegates will be equipped with the theoretical and practical skills needed to deal with first aid emergencies in the workplace. This qualification is valid for three years and is appropriate for most working environments.

It fully meets the requirements of:

  • Ofsted (UK)

  • Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework

  • Department for Education (DfE)

Please note: Delegates must be physically able to demonstrate practical assessments

Course Syllabus

  • Understanding the role of a first aider in childcare settings

  • Legal responsibilities and record keeping

  • Incident reporting

  • Infection control and personal safety

  • Managing an Unresponsive Infant or Child

  • Recovery position (infant and child variations)

  • CPR for infants (under 1 year) and children (1 year to puberty)

  • Using an AED (automated external defibrillator) on a child

  • Choking

  • Recognising different types of seizures in children

  • Managing a seizure episode safely

  • Shock

  • Bleeding

  • Common Childhood Injuries

  • Bites, Stings, and Allergic Reactions

Please note: Assessment is completed through a multiple-choice question papers and practical demonstrations.

 

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for individuals responsible for the welfare of infants, children, and adults within their professional setting. This includes nursery environments, childminders, and carers. The required qualification levels should adhere to Ofsted regulations and the Department for Education (DFE) Early Years Foundation Stages.
